Spain is known for her impressive gothic churches and religious art. Even the small beach community of Tarifa did not disappoint. I photographed this statue in their church and, unfortunately I didn't catch the title of this particular one. The patroness of Tarifa is Our Lady Of The Light so I'll assume this one is the same. The statue is life-sized and every bit of the lace of her gowns and veils is hand made, her crown is handmade from real silver. The haunting beauty of these statues is something to behold in life, and a wonderful challenge to paint. I had originally planned to paint this in oils, until I realized I would be about a hundred and fifteen years old before I finished....
