The title of the painting comes from what I named this rosebush that is growing in my garden. When I bought my house, the flower bed was so choked with weeds, I didn’t even notice the scraggly little twig that was a struggling little rosebush. I almost dug it up because I figured it wasn’t going to make it through the coming winter, but I figured I ought to give it a fair shot. Today it’s an enormous, flourishing plant, loaded with sweet smelling, beautiful variegated roses. It’s become my favorite.
